The amino acid citrulline is considered the body’s preferred Precursor to arginine for synthesizing NITRO CELL™ Bonding AKG to Citrulline is thought to enhance the process. Malic acid participates in the ATP re-synthesizing Krebs cycle. Chemically bonding Malic acid to Citrulline thereby supports muscle ATP levels.

Citrulline Ethyl Ester HCL intake resulted in a significant reduction in the sensation of fatigue, a 34% increase in the rate of oxidative ATP production during exercise, and a 20% increase in the rate of phosphocreatine recovery after exercise, indicating a larger contribution of oxidative ATP synthesis to energy production. The expansion of the TCA intermediate pool can therefore be regarded as a means of attaining higher rates of aerobic energy production, in agreement with our results showing that Ethyl Ester supplementation promotes a greater contribution of aerobic ATP production to total energy production. These results suggest that this hyper activation of aerobic ATP production coupled to a reduction in anaerobic energy supply may contribute to the reduction in fatigue sensation reported by the subjects.

Citrulline is a metabolite in the urea cycle and is involved in liver detoxification and vasodilatation pathways. It is produced in the urea cycle when carbamoyl phosphate is converted to citrulline in the ornithine carbamoyltransferase reaction. When endogenous supplies of ornithine carbamoyltransferase are insufficient, supplemental Citrulline has been shown to support ammonia incorporation and liver detoxification of ammonia.

Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid that is an important intermediate in the urea cycle, functioning along with Arginine and Ornithine to rid the body of ammonia, a by product of protein metabolism.
